چکیده
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS I would first like to thank my family especially my parents for instilling at a very young age the many important lessons and positive aspects of life, which plays a crucial role in who I am today. I would also like to give special thanks to my friends, who gave me a lot of help in completing my research and also to The Public Service Department and U.S.M. for the sponsorship of my study. The staff and lecturers in the school of Aerospace Engineering U.S.M. are an extended family who have been a very positive influence not only in the development of my education leading to this point, but also in the development as a person as a whole. I would also like to acknowledge the member on my committee, Ir. Fragaria Affisima, for his continuing efforts to further the completion of my education. Lastly, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to my supervisor, Dr. Cosmas Pandit Pagwiwoko and Dr Radzuan Razali for their endless effort and devotion to teaching. They have not only been as source of inspiration but also a prominent role model as well. It goes without saying that without the guidance, opportunities and challenges set forth by them, the opportunity to gain experience from this research would not have been possible.

Morphing Wing Aeroelasticity by Continuous Dynamic Simulation using Nonlinear Aerodynamic/Nonlinear Structure Interaction (NANSI) Methodology*
Our objective is to develop a nonlinear aerodynamic and nonlinear structural interaction (NANSI) methodology as an expedient aeroelastic tool to handle continuous dynamic motion of morphing vehicles/wings throughout the flight regimes of subsonic to transonic speeds. The proposed morph vehicles for method demonstration is the Lockheed Folding wing (the Folding wing). Preliminary results on Flut...
متن کاملEvaluation of 2-D Aeroelastic Models Based on Indicial Aerodynamic Theory and Vortex Lattice Method in Flutter and Gust Response Determination
Two 2-D aeroelastic models are presented here to determine instability boundary (flutter speed) and gust response of a typical section airfoil with degrees of freedom in pitch and plunge directions. To build these 2-D aeroelastic models, two different aerodynamic theories including Indicial Aerodynamic Theory and Vortex Lattice Method (VLM) have been employed. Also, a 3-D aeroelastic framework ...
متن کاملFlutter Analysis of a Low Aspect Ratio Swept- Back Trapezoidal Wing at Low Subsonic Flow
A linear, aeroelastic analysis of a low aspect ratio swept back trapezoidal wing modeled as a cantilever plate is presented. An analytical and numerical formulation for both the aerodynamic forcing and structural response of the wing was developed. The analytical model uses a three dimensional time domain vortex lattice aerodynamic method. A Rayleigh-Ritz approach has been used to transfer equa...
متن کاملAdaptive Control of a Nonlinear Aeroelastic System
Aeroelastic two-dimensional wing section with both trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE) was investigated in this paper through numerical simulation in time domain. Structural stiffness and damping in pitch degree of freedom were represented by nonlinear polynomials. Open-loop limit cycle oscillation (LCO) characters of two examples were studied, and flutter boundaries with initial condition...
متن کاملModeling, simulation and analysis of a multi degree of freedom aircraft wing model
This paper presented methods to determine the aerodynamic forces that acton an aircraft wing during flight. These methods are initially proposed for asimplified two degree-of-freedoms airfoil model and then are extensivelyapplied for a multi-degree-of-freedom airfoil system. Different airspeedconditions are considered in establishing such methods. The accuracy of thepresented methods is verifie...
